Selected work

Engineering work from product idea to production.

Examples from my work as an engineering leader, architect, and hands-on contributor. Each summary describes the responsibility I held and the capabilities delivered by the team.

Leading engineering for a property-management SaaS platform

As Director of Engineering for a vertical CRM serving multifamily real estate, I led work spanning application development, quality assurance, infrastructure, and customer integrations over a seven-year tenure.

The work

The platform needed engineering support across product development, production operation, and customer onboarding. The organization also grew from a small founding team into a distributed engineering and QA team.

My role and approach

Directed engineering, established hiring practices and team processes, and owned architecture and production reliability. Worked with sales prospects on technical questions, scoped integrations, and supported customer onboarding.

Delivered capabilities

Led a distributed team of more than 20 people and engineering across a cloud stack including AWS, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Node.js, React, and React Native. The scope combined product delivery with the operational responsibility of running the platform.

Building the developer experience for an AI automation platform

As an early Principal Engineer on a web automation query platform, I helped build the systems through which developers could access and use the product.

The work

A customer-facing platform needed more than a query API. Developers also needed account access, API keys, billing, and a view of their usage, connected to the backend and execution environment.

My role and approach

Led the team building the initial developer portal with Next.js and Firebase, including API key management, Stripe billing, and usage dashboards. Configured sandbox infrastructure with Terraform and AWS ECS.

Delivered capabilities

Connected the portal, backend services, and user management. Developed backend API key validation and query routing, and contributed to the client library and integration tests.

Delivering and operating software for live events

As VP of Engineering and lead architect for a cloud-based WiFi portal, I led the design, delivery, and operation of software distributing event information to attendees at sporting events, concerts, and festivals.

The work

Venue requirements and ongoing product development had to be handled together. The engineering role included partner coordination, production support, and the systems used to deliver new features.

My role and approach

Designed backend services and APIs used by the client application and admin console. Established automated build, test, and deployment processes, and led engineering delivery and incident response.

Delivered capabilities

Built paid WiFi functionality through a payment-gateway integration and oversaw log processing and analysis. The product was deployed for major sporting venues and other live events.

How that experience applies to your project

The same engineering concerns recur across industries: clear ownership, connected systems, a usable product, and a way to operate it reliably.

New products

Build a complete first workflow, including access, integration, and operation, rather than stopping at a prototype.
